Remembering the Life of
Kathleen Matthews
August 5, 1951 - May 18, 2023
Kathleen Brewer Matthews, age 71 of Decherd, passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. A native of Franklin County, she was born on August 5, 1951, to the late John Thomas and Anna Elizabeth (Partin) Brewer. Before her retirement, she was employed by CKR. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Gatlinburg and Florida, fishing, and having her morning coffee with her sister, Jean. But most of all she cherished the time spent with her beloved family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she enjoyed watching Toy Story movies with. All who knew her will recall, “she wasn’t the light of the party, she was the party.” Kathleen was a member of Broadview Missionary Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, John Thomas “Tom” Brewer Jr, Billie Ruth Pemberton, and Margaret Faye Clark; and nieces and nephews, Bruce W. Brewer, Joseph Brent Brewer, and Victoria Lynn Clark. Kathleen is survived by loving children, Daniel (Vickie) Matthews, Dusty (Mark) Robinson, and Dasha (Wendell) Wiser; grandchildren, Tiffani Robinson, Bailey Wiser, Taylor (Mitchell) Simpson, Kaitlynn (Eli) Neyman, Homer Wiser, Courtney Wiser, John Mason Matthews, Shelby (Daniel) Livingston, Mia Robinson, and Ezekiel Robinson; great-grandchildren, Sabreigh Simpson, Scout Simpson, and Magnus Simpson; siblings, Hershell W. Brewer, Jean (Robert) Sanders, Myrtle (Glenn) Breccia, Benny (Dianna) Brewer, and Sheila (Jeff) Boyett; several nieces and nephews; and four-legged best friend, Bella. Visitation will be from 10am-2pm on Monday, May 22, 2023, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 pm in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with Bro. Charles Houston and Bro. Mark Bolin officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Garner Cemetery with Robbie Sanders, Melvin Sanders, Brian “Bear” Brewer, Blake Boyett, Charlie Brewer, and Wade Clark serving as pallbearers. Kathleen worked with me at CKR. She was such a sweet kind lady. We had so much fun working together. I remember at Christmas we could play Christmas music and we would sing Silver Bells together. Every time I hear that song I think of her. Sorry I can’t attend her services but wanted the family to know that I am deeply sorry to hear of her passing.
Love,
